Fidelity credit cards

A one-card issuer with a single idea, executed cleanly: flat 2% back that lands in a brokerage, IRA, HSA or 529 instead of a statement. There is no welcome bonus, no intro APR and no second product. You hold this card for years and let the 2% land in the account it feeds.

The honest read

Where Fidelity wins, and where it loses

Strengths

  • Unlimited 2% with no categories, no caps and no expiration
  • No annual fee and no foreign transaction fee
  • Rewards can be split across up to five eligible Fidelity accounts, including IRAs, HSAs, 529s and a Charitable Giving Account
  • Auto redeem sweeps points to cash at the close of each billing cycle without any action from you

Weaknesses

  • No welcome bonus at all, which costs you $150 to $250 against rival 2% cards
  • One consumer product only: the 2% card is the entire lineup
  • The full 2% only applies to deposits into an eligible Fidelity account
  • Elan Financial Services, not Fidelity, makes the credit decision, and it publishes no application guidance
Before you apply

Fidelity application and bonus rules

Some of these rules appear in Fidelity's written offer terms. Others are unpublished bank behavior documented by years of community data. We label which is which.

Elan Financial Services is the issuer

In official terms

Fidelity markets the card, but Elan Financial Services underwrites it, sets the APR and services the account. The rates and terms disclosure and the Cardmember Agreement are both Elan documents. Elan issues cards for hundreds of small banks and credit unions, so its underwriting has nothing to do with your Fidelity balances.

Thaw your credit reports before applying

In official terms

Fidelity's own product page carries the instruction: please remove any credit bureau freezes before applying. Elan, like U.S. Bank, pulls more than one report, and a freeze it cannot read produces a denial rather than a request to lift it.

An eligible Fidelity account is required for the full 2%

In official terms

You do not need a Fidelity account to be approved, but the 2% figure only applies to Points redeemed as a deposit into an eligible Fidelity account. Statement credits, travel, merchandise and gift cards are worth less per point.

No published bonus or velocity rules

Community-documented

Elan publishes no application restrictions, no card-per-month limits and no bonus lockout window. There is nothing to lock out, since the card carries no welcome bonus.

The points

How Fidelity Reward Points actually work

Transfer partners

None. Points are fixed-value cash back. Eligible destination accounts include most nonretirement registrations plus Traditional, Roth, Rollover and SEP IRAs, a Fidelity Charitable Giving Account, a Fidelity HSA, and a Fidelity-managed 529.

Pooling points

Rewards are directed at Fidelity accounts, not pooled with other cards. You can register up to five eligible Fidelity accounts and split rewards across them, with each account receiving between 20% and 100% of the total. Auto redeem converts the full point balance to cash at the close of each billing cycle.

Expiration

Points do not expire. Fidelity states the card has no caps, limits or expirations on earning.

We currently value Generic cash back at 1¢ per point (floor 1¢, ceiling 1¢). Check the points valuation calculator for what your balance is worth.

FAQ

Fidelity card questions, answered

Who actually issues the Fidelity Rewards Visa Signature Card?
Elan Financial Services. Fidelity brands and markets the card, but Elan underwrites the application, sets the APR and services the account. The rates and terms disclosure is published on Elan's own domain.
Is there a welcome bonus on the Fidelity card?
No. As of September 2026 the product page advertises no signup offer of any kind. The only one-time credit on the card is up to $100 in Reward Points for a Global Entry or TSA PreCheck application fee.
Do I need a Fidelity account to use the card?
Not to be approved. But the advertised 2% only applies to Points redeemed as a deposit into an eligible Fidelity account, and you can register up to five accounts and split the rewards between them.
Which Fidelity accounts can receive the cash back?
Most nonretirement registrations, plus Traditional, Roth, Rollover and SEP IRAs, a Fidelity Charitable Giving Account, a Fidelity HSA, and a Fidelity-managed 529 College Savings Plan. Each registered account can take between 20% and 100% of a redemption.
How does the Fidelity card compare to other 2% cards?
The earn rate matches Wells Fargo Active Cash and Citi Double Cash, and it beats both on foreign purchases because it charges no foreign transaction fee. It loses on the opening offer, since it has no welcome bonus and no intro APR at all.
Why does Fidelity tell you to unfreeze your credit before applying?
Elan pulls more than one consumer report during underwriting. A frozen file it cannot read comes back as a denial rather than a request to lift the freeze, so Fidelity puts the warning directly on the application page.
